Overview
The Fundamentals of IBM i Operations series describes the job processing environment on an IBM i system and the common tasks performed by a IBM i operator. The series describes how to submit batch jobs, monitor and control their execution, and manage the printer output they create. It also shows how to perform various management tasks for interactive jobs. Global operational tasks, such as managing subsystems, controlling tape devices, and determining jobs waiting for operator intervention, are also covered.

Audience
This series should be taken by anyone who will be using IBM i work management facilities. This audience includes users who submit and monitor the execution of their own batch jobs, users who control the printing of their output, and operators who are responsible for monitoring and controlling job processing.
Prerequisites
All courses in this series assume that you can perform basic IBM i operations. In particular, you should know how to sign on the system and display the Operational Assistant Menu. You can satisfy this prerequisite by successfully completing the courses from the Introduction to the IBM i Environment series. If you feel you already have the necessary skills, you can verify your belief by successfully completing the Competency Exam for this series.
